Should Mom or Dad Stay in Our Family Home? Remaining in the home could be simpler and less expensive. An AARP study showed more than 90% of seniors wanted to stay in their homes. Almost 82% wanted to stay even if they needed to bring in homecare or personal care.

How do they continue to afford their home & expenses? If the home-owning senior wants to refinance that is an option. They could always take a reverse mortgage to draw on equity of the home while continuing to live there.
Long term care insurance can provide for needed homecare. Homecare benefits may provide the needed assistance while allowing the senior to stay home.
